HIGHLIGHTS
- Lampokhari lake is one of the oldest lakes in Sikkim. It is placed at an altitude of 4600 feet and is 1120 feet long and 240 feet wide. Also known as Aritar Lake, it is surrounded by rich green pine forests making it look even more stunning. The main highlight about this natural lake is its boating facility and a pathway that has been constructed around the lake for tourists to look at it from different angles.
- Thambi Viewpoint, situated in Zuluk, a quaint hamlet in the Indian state of Sikkim, is a mesmerizing destination that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Eastern Himalayas. Perched at an elevation of around 11,200 feet, this viewpoint is named after the Thambi peak, which stands majestically amidst the surrounding snow-capped mountains.
- Jelep La is a high-altitude mountain pass at 13,999 feet linking Lhasa to India. It nestles between India and Tibet in the eastern part of the Sikkim in India. The word Jelep La is of Tibetan origin, and it means “the lovely level pass”. It is truly the most level among all the passes between Sikkim and Tibet.
- Reshikhola is a riverside destination just 37 km from Kalimpong and very near to Pedong. The little village of Reshikhola received its name from the Reshi River running along this small place. In Nepali language ‘Khola’ means ‘small stream’.
OVERVIEW
- Sillery Gaon is a picture-perfect Himalayan hamlet, which nestles at a height of around 6000 feet. Sillery is located 96 kms from New Jalpaiguri via Kalimpong. The scenic beauty of the place is undoubtedly eye appealing. Gorgeous view of the mighty Mt. Kanchenjunga can be savored from Sillery Gaon. The music of wilderness, the chirping of the birds and the fragrance of nature of this pristine hamlet will soothe your senses and refresh your mind.
- Known for its pristine beauty, temples and monasteries, Aritar is an important town in East. The entire region is surrounded by lush green forests and beautiful streams and is a delight for anyone who wants to spend time in a lesser-known area.
- Located at a height of around 10,100 feet on the rugged terrain of the lower Himalayas in East Sikkim, Zuluk or Dzuluk is a small village which was once a transit point to the historic Silk Route from Tibet to India. It is relatively an emerging and offbeat destination in East Sikkim.
- Namthang valley is located at an altitude of 13,500 feet, this lush valley was the home to traditional yak herders who came from Tibet. Few streams crisscross the valley, and prayer flags flutter on the mountain edges on this vast plain of nothingness. Nathang Valley appears in different colors in different times of the year. In autumn it looks golden when the grass dries up, in rainy season it’s covered in flowers and in winter it is buried in 5 feet of snow. Nathang Valley is also visited by migratory birds just before the onset of winter. There’s a monastery, a temple and a small bridge over a small stream in the distance dotting the valley.
New Jalpaiguri/ Siliguri/Bagdogra Airport to Sillery Gaon.
After arrival at Bagdogra Airport/ Siliguri/ New Jalpaiguri our driver will pick you up and assist to Sillery Gaon which takes 3.5 – 4 hours a journey. Sillery Gaon is a small village, situated at just around 10 kilometers from Delo in Kalimpong and the hamlet is winning hearts by offering a stunning of Kachenjunga and the Teesta River, flowing beneath a majestic green valley. The village is situated at an altitude of 6000ft, above and a dense forest of pine and other hilly trees and cinchona plantation offers absolute tranquility, which many vacationers look for. Being a small, underdeveloped village, which has caught the limelight very recently, Sillery Gaon cannot provide you with luxurious accommodation options, but once you reach the place, perhaps those luxuries will not mean much to you since Sillery Gaon will delight you with its natural treasures by that time. After breakfast, start for Aritar Tour just on top of Lampokhri Lake [Altitude of Aritar 1,498 m]. This lake is the highest lake with a boating facility in Sikkim. Enjoy the boating in Post Lunch session. Enroute Sightseeing to Mankhim Temple, Mankhim Viewpoint, Aritar Monastery and Aritar Dak bungalow. After breakfast transfer to Zuluk which takes 2 hours a journey. En-route visit Rongli Dam, Lingtam, Lingtam Monastery, Keukhela Falls. Zuluk derives its tourism importance due to the excellent view of the eastern Himalayan Mountain range including the Kanchenjunga. It was once a transit point to the historic Silk Route from Tibet to India.Zuluk to Nathang Day Trip.
Early morning visit for sunrise view from Lungthung Viewpoint. After breakfast, proceed towards Nathan valley day trip via Zig Zag Road, Thambi viewpoint, Lungthung, Tukla Valley, Jelep La Pass view and Yak golf Course. Zig Zag Road or Bhulbhuliya is a one in kind of road in the entire Sikkim. This spiral road has so many hairpins bent (almost 32) and counts as the top 10 dangerous roads in the world. One can get a splendid view of Zuluk from every hairpin bend of the road.Zuluk to Rongpokhola
After Breakfast, start for Rongpokhola, a mesmerizing place with a gurgling river and green vegetation. Rongpokhola is one fine destination to visit and experience the warm hospitality showered by the locals while sharing the stay with them and feasting upon figure licking fresh home-cooked meals made from organic fruits and vegetable picked from their backyard.
